Have you considered getting a safe for your
Philadelphia, PA home? They’re not just for the wealthy and powerful, you know!
Having a home safe is often portrayed in movies and television as a right
reserved for the socially and financially elite, but in reality, anyone who
wishes to protect their valuables can greatly benefit from having one. There is
a huge range of items that can fit inside a home safe and that can make your
life safer, more enriched and convenient by actually being in your home and not
stashed away in a remote location.
Here at Fast Pro Locksmith LLC we are often asked
what should go into a home safe. Our answer is always pretty much the same;
whatever you want? Home safes come in many sizes, models and materials. They
are diverse for a reason; you can do with them what you want and secure a vast
array of items including jewelry, cash, collectibles, flash drives and even
weapons! Use your imagination; what do you want to put inside your safe and for
what reason? Do you need handy access to cash money or to jewelry? Do you want
to install a safe because you don’t trust your bank or like the idea of your
valuables being off-location? Do some thinking about what you’d like to put
inside your safe. If you need additional details about the safe or what you can
use it for feel free to call our shop and discuss your many options with our
helpful and friendly Fast Pro Locksmith LLC staff.
Use your imagination
The sky is the limit when it comes to home safe
contents. You can use your safe to store and protect items like software, flash
drives, insurance papers, cash, rare coins, passports, appraisals, receipts,
mortgage and insurance documents, tax returns, small weapons and firearms,
private letters, family photos and lots more. You can hide your safe in your
basement, back room or attic. You can prominently display it in your home
office or great room. You can be more discreet and have it built into a wall,
behind a bookcase or under the stairs. The point is, you can create your own
“safe” environment and go from there.
Don’t make yourself a target!
You may be wondering if having a home safe makes
you a target for criminal activity. That depends… Are you discreet about your
newly purchased and installed safe? Do you mainly use your safe for the
protection of your valuables? Or, are you wanting a safe for “status”
enhancement, and looks? If you are constantly bragging to neighbors and friends
that you added a home safe, they are bound to notice and even tell others. If
you brag about what is inside your home safe then that could be even worse.
Like other private matters, what’s inside your home safe is your business and
should remain so.
File cabinets and desks vs home safes
There is often confusion about the need for a
home safe if file cabinets or desks are already present or being considered.
It’s really not an either-or choice! You can have both as they serve different
needs. For instance, file cabinet and desk drawers may have locks on them but
those locks are often not adequate for the security that you might need. We
recommend that you keep low to medium security items in your file cabinet or
desk drawers. These can be utility bills, correspondence that is not private,
forms, letterhead, magazine articles, coupons, etc. If someone were to break in
to your desk and steal these items, you would not be devastated financially or
emotionally. The cam locks guarding these items are easy to pick, break open or
pry so be aware of that.
